Exhibit reflection

Exhibit: early printed books exhibit

Summary/reflection:

It’s quite interesting to see what the early printed books look like, or to be a bit abstract, what materials people used to spread knowledge or opinions. At that time we had Vellum and Rag-Papers, as they were more durable it made me wondered a bit whether the information they had were also more durable. If the available materials were quite limited, the content would be considered more cautiously and maybe thus more valuable. When people read the same literature piece over and over, not only do they learn more or realize more from it, the meaning and value of that piece of literature increase as well.

Looking at all the books in old and hard papers with letters that are still clear after hundreds of and thousands of years just made me realize what people wanted at that time is actually the same as what we want right now. We have different social medias and platforms, and the reason that most people are trying to create contents that take people’s attention is not only that they want the financial benefits behind it, but also that it means the content can “live” longer on the internet. We have a kind of nature of preserving the length of our existence and that habit lives today as well, just in a relatively more twisted way.
